The days are longer, the birds are chirping, and Bolton is bathed in sunshine…some of the time anyway. We’ve put together a list of 3 must-visit attractions to enjoy this summer.
Smithills Open Farm
A few miles outside of Bolton, nestled in the rolling countryside, lies Smithills Open Farm. This is a must-visit for families looking for a great day out. Cows, sheep, rabbits and donkeys aren’t just the only residents at the farm. Meerkats, skunks and Burmese pythons call the farm home, with many more animals being added regularly.
There are a wide variety of attractions to keep the little ones entertained, including bouncy castles, playgrounds and much more. Tickets are £8 for adults and £7 for children. Keep an eye on their website for special events and new arrivals. Make a statement with new arrivals to your home with a stylish composite or uPVC entrance door, which can be personalised to perfectly suit your home and taste.
Bolton Food and Drink Festival
Bolton city centre will be overrun on the August Bank Holiday (23rd – 26th) with foodies and people looking to soak up the summer sun. The 2018 version of the Bolton Food and Drink Festival welcomed over a quarter of a million visitors flocking to Victoria Square. It even won the festival winning the Best Market Attraction in the 2019 Great British Market Awards.
Browse over 200 food, drink and arts and crafts stalls, enjoy a plethora of live entertainment and catch cooking demonstrations from celebrity chefs Gregg Wallace, James Martin, and the Hairy Bikers. Once you’re suitably inspired to cook up a storm, extend your kitchen and living space with an energy efficient conservatory.
Hall i’ th’ Wood
Hall i’ th’ Wood is a stunning display of 16th century architecture and Stuart and Tudor life. The Grade I listed building was divided into multiple homes in the 18th century, one of which was home to Samuel Crompton. Crompton was a British inventor who developed the spinning mule, which revolutionised the textile production industry.
Entry to Hall i’ th’ Wood is free, with a guidebook, quiz and friendly, knowledgeable staff available throughout the visit. This is arguably the North West’s most historic building and well worth a visit. No matter the age of your home, Plan-it offers windows that will match its character and aesthetic. Our Residence 9 windows are crafted to fulfil Article 4 Conservation Area guidelines, while giving your home a beautiful upgrade.
